In South Africa we love both of them! That is wines, in every form and colour – red, white, pink or with bubbles.
Now put them together with whales that are mostly seen in Hermanus in the Western Cape, South Africa and you have the WINES2WHALES Mountain bike race. With 3 events to choose from: The “Adventure, Race or Ride”. Riders have more opportunity to participate. With over 1100 eager riders per event, its one amazing multi-stage race held in the Western Cape.
In 2014 it all starts at Lourensford Estate in Somerset West on the 31 October, with a race village set up at Oak Valley sports field in Elgin with the finish venue being Onrust Caravan Park in Onrust (near Hermanus). With 2 riders per team covering 70-80km per day.
With so many riders there are sure to be great places to spectate and enjoy some great wine and food. Check out the spectators guide. You can rent a car from CABS to get back and forth.
