Will Saturday’s match against Ireland be the start to our build up to The Rugby World cup 2015? Is this the team we taking to England with us? The Springboks are 2nd on the rankings and the momentum from the Rugby Championship needs to keep us there. But playing in Britain is not as easy as it looks, with the weather that is cold, often windy and raining and heavy turf underfoot that can quickly turn into a quagmire.
This tour is being referred to as the “The Fresh Tour” by the Bok players and management team that are saying this is not the end of the season 2014, but the beginning of a journey to the 2015 World Cup final at Twickenham. With Heyneke Meyer’s favourite phrase – “there are no tough conditions, only soft people”, can his ability to motivate the team by instilling the right attitude and values to win make the difference?
The key players to watch will be 20 year old flyhalf Handre Pollard. But we still have our favourites that can change a game like Willie le Roux, Patrick Lambie, Bryan Habana, Cornal Hendricks and a newbie Nizaam Carr at number 8 as an impact player. And with a great bench that will be used for strategy in the 2nd half which will make a difference between winning and losing the game. Let’s wait and see!
